Kathy A. Raffa Kathy Raffa, Vice President Kathy is a partner with RAFFA. She joined the firm in 1992 after 14 years with Coopers & Lybrand where she was a not-for-profit and higher education specialist. She was responsible for the audits of many of their largest not-for-profit clients, including Georgetown University, the Smithsonian Institution, the International Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, The American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Reading is Fundamental.In addition to conducting and managing audits, Kathy provides a wide variety of consulting and business advisory services in areas such as internal and operational controls, management structure, business processes and procedures, unrelated business income taxes, compliance with government regulations, financial projections and cash management. Kathy also oversees all services provided to our Firm's independent school clients, including audits, tax, outsourcing and consulting. Kathy helped develop and teach a number of training programs, including courses on accounting and auditing for not-for-profits and educational institutions, and compliance auditing under Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-133. She has been a speaker at public seminars on a variety of topics, including new accounting standards, financial statement presentation, compliance with Federal regulations and OMB Circular A-133. Kathy graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Greater Washington Society of CPA's, where she has served on the Not-for-Profit Committee. She has served on the Board of Trustees of the Arlington Symphony Association and currently is the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Levine School of Music, where she also serves on the Executive Committee and is the chairperson of the Finance Committee. Kathy is also currently serving on the Capital Campaign Steering Committee of the Round House Theatre, which has been responsible for strategizing and planning the Theatre's capital campaign. |
